The Excellence in Missouri Foundation provides several opportunities to learn more about performance excellence principles and the year. The workshops and events listed below are those that are open to the public. If you prefer, Foundation staff can design customized training to bring on-site to your organization. Strategic Planning:  Process, Tools, and Templates
This strategic planning workshop will provide an overview of a well-tested strategic planning framework that addresses required Baldrige elements. The information presented will simplify what can be a very complex topic and provide a logical approach to the strategic planning process that identifies the key milestones of the development and deployment of a Baldrige-based strategic plan. Attendees will leave the workshop with a clear understanding of a viable process that can be implemented in any organization regardless of sector and size.

The Baldrige Examination Process for Non-Examiners  

(2 day workshop - must attend both days)

This workshop condenses the Baldrige Quality Award training process into two days. Geared toward individuals interested in learning the examination process, but without the time to commit to a full examination cycle, the workshop will provide a history of Baldrige, a review of the examination process, detailed criteria training, and exercises to ensure practical application of the criteria in the workplace. After the completion of this workshop, attendees will understand the elements of the seven criteria categories and be able to begin to apply the criteria in their organizations.


Process Management Tools and Techniques

The absence of process is a
series of random events. It is probably safe to assume than an organization does not want to describe their activities as a series of random events. During the course of this workshop, useful tools will be introduced to develop the knowledge base of participants to successfully utilize process management concepts and techniques to improve their organization's performance. An overview of process management components and development of workflow patterns will be combined with practical application materials to optimize the everyday processes of your workplace to better use your human resources' time, hence, saving you money!

Business Modeling

In this brand new offering, you will be given powerful, simple-to-use, effective tools to better understand and design a business model to implement within your organization. You will be shown fresh and innovative ideas which will systematically help you rethink your current business model to 'take it to the next level' or create a brand new model to reach your current goals. Balanced Scorecard for Beginners 

In recent years, most of us have heard the term Balanced Scorecard bandied about...often used, and just as often abused. Similarly, the Balanced Scorecard process has been used and abused. This workshop will introduce simple approaches and understanding to successfully use Balanced Scorecard as an effective strategy implementation process in your organization.


Advanced Topics in Balanced Scorecard
 

This workshop is designed to convert theory to application. Attendees will actively participate in a start-to-finish Balanced scorecard development process, developing a strategy map, strategy cards, balanced scorecards, and performance reports. In addition, participants will receive a suite of tools to use in their own organizations.

The Baldrige Examination Process for Executives: Day One 

(2 day workshop - must attend both days)


This workshop is designed for executives interested in learning the Baldrige model, the leadership role in implementing the model, and a framework for implementing Baldrige in their organizations. Topics covered will include the history of Baldrige, detailed criteria training, application of the criteria to a case study, the benefits and challenges of implementing Baldrige by award process recipients, and the development of a Baldrige organizational profile for attendees’ home organizations. The class is offered in two one-day sessions, with a month in between to complete an assignment leading to the completion of an organizational profile. Attendees will complete the workshop with a plan for implementation of the model. Hands-on exercises combined with criteria training will prepare executives for leading Baldrige in their organizations.

Organizational Performance Measurement

Using performance metrics, balanced scorecard, and key performance indicators (KPIs), an organization can develop an effective system to measure current levels of performance. This workshop will help participants develop these tools for their own organizations to utilize in measuring performance excellence for their business. Learn new processes to strengthen outcomes, improve resource utilization, and determine long-term and short-term objectives to increase productivity using performance data as your guide.

Work Systems and Work Processes - How to Develop a Model

Beginning with your current business strategy and operating models, you will learn how to develop more effective work systems and processes which will help your staff to reach optimum performance capacity for a more efficient and effective workforce.
